The first time I hiked the Nā Pali coast, I was in college, living on a college budget. I packed a moon blanket ($1.99), a water filter, a beach towel and sunblock. For food, I brought a jar of peanut butter. We hiked the 22 mile trek to and from Kalalau beach, and spent two nights posted up in a sea cave, unfolding our moon blankets beneath the stars to sleep at night. It was my first overnight hike, and I was hooked. The second time I hiked the trail, it rained non-stop and though we didn't know it at the time, an earthquake was ripping through the island. This time, everything came together. I had actual camping gear, real food, and (at last) my camera. The sunsets were fire, the weather was warm, and there was just enough rain that the green seemed to swallow you whole. It was paradise. If you ever get the chance to hike Kaua'i, take it. #ebcontributor #LiveYourAdventure
