Eddie Bauer Guide @carolinewaregeorge checks in after a June ice session near her home in Chamonix: "With a very dry Fall, hardly any ice formed in the mountains or in the valleys for that matter. And during the winter, it's too cold for the ice to form as there is no moisture up high.
But we've been experiencing a very wet spring with lots of precipitation in the form of wet snow of high. The snow sticks to the cold rock, in turns into ice. But it's very fickle. Conditions can change from the one day to the next, or from the one hour to the next. With the forecasted storms this coming week, conditions should get even better."
