This is Kalalau beach, a welcome sight after 11 miles of trekking through steep, tropical terrain. We setup camp just before sunset, and rinsed off beneath the 100ft waterfall that empties onto the beach. Our neighbor to the left stood over a stone fire, boiling a bucket of fresh plucked snails and harvested taro. He was a legend, the resident chef. He offered us seasoned oysters and ripe mango, and introduced to us to his friends who ran the community garden. After a while we learned there was an opening for a resident librarian, someone to manage the tent full of books that had been donated by various backpackers. It was paradise, and I was definitely tempted to call Kalalau home for the next little while... #LiveYourAdventure #ebcontributor
