Traditionally, styles of drinks associated with #newyork especially #classic #scotch #cocktails might have been more on the heavy side, liquor heavy, sipping style cocktails. The bartenders would use simple ingredients which would let the flavors and balance of the base spirit shine through the taste experience.
Back in 2012 a collaboration between an influential local New York bartender Naren Young and the Chivas Brand Ambassador demonstrated that lighter style cocktails could really show off the fragrant and aromatic side to #chivasregal.
The Point Blanc
1.5oz Chivas 12yr
1/2oz Dolin Dry
1/2oz Dolin Blanc
1/4oz St Germain Elderflower Liqueur
5 dashes of lemon bitters
2 dashes of Chardonnay Vinegar/Verjus
Take a large glass jug and fill with the best quality ice you can find, add all the ingredients until you have suitably chilled the drink and added a touch of dilution. This opens up the flavors and allows all the sweetness and fragrant aromas to shine, referencing the joys of springtime in Manhattan.
