Instead, there are boardwalks winding through dense forests and swamps. Nature sounds more alive. There are thousands of insects, mosquitoes buzzing in your ear, and you're always watching underfoot for snakes and gators. Congaree National Park is an old growth forest near Columbia, South Carolina that has one of the largest concentrations of champion trees in the world (A champion tree is the largest known tree of a species).
