(5/6) In Raymond’s discipline of psychology and human factors engineering, he studies the behavior and interaction between a person and his or her environment. When this practice is applied to the Mirai, he can appreciate the depth of effort that was put into the build and functionality of the vehicle. “[Toyota] has really put some thought into this,” Raymond says. “The feel of the car, the instruments, the steering, the shift knob, and everything. It’s intuitive. That’s why I like it.” He also admits to enjoying the semi-notoriety he receives while driving the Mirai. Relatively unknown to the public, the Mirai is often confused with a Prius or not recognized at all. “It’s a little bit glamorous when people are staring [at the car],” he says. “I like the novelty behind it. Once, my nine-year-old son asked me if I was planning on tinting the car windows. I asked why, and he answered that he saw other drivers staring at him while seated in the back. I laughed and responded, ‘They’re not staring at you; they’re staring at the car!’” For more info on Mirai, check out the link in our bio.
