Photo by @rezaphotography // Arid Lands // #Libya // In the sad procession of refugees heading towards the hope of peace, security, happiness, fleeing conflict, totalitarianism and misery, it is hard to distinguish those who choose exile as they seek places where the grass is greener and the earth more fertile and nourishing. Climate change has resulted in the drying up of entire countries, creating tensions over the control of water and rivers and driving hundreds of thousands of “climate refugees” on the road to exile. I was on a reportage for National Geographic in Libya, and was near the town of Ghadames when I saw this solitary trek of a man walking alone in the desert against the stark aridity of this landscape.
