Who knew there were sand dunes here? From the visitor center at Guadalupe Mountains National Park, to get to the dunes you have to drive about an hour (half of which is off-road) to the far west side of the park, followed by a mile hike. You aren't really sure what to expect until you see these striking dunes unfold on the horizon. I was lucky enough to see a beautiful sunset here, which took my breath away. The hike back to the car, by myself in the dark with coyotes howling all around, was quite interesting. It's funny the tricks your mind plays on you in instances such as those
