Tech Tip Tuesday: What camera do you shoot with? That's probably the most popular question I get emailed or messaged these days by photographers looking for a little beta. And while the camera is important, it's hard to go wrong - they're all pretty darn good (I usually suggest getting a dSLR made in the last couple years with the features that are important).
But the same broad statement can't be said for the lenses you put on your camera. A good lens should last for years, hold its value, and travel the world and back with you. It's the lenses that matter much more than the camera you are putting it on.
That's what this tech tip Tuesday is about... Invest in great lenses early on in your photography career and you will have the proper tools to create whatever you dream. What you can get with an extra $500 in lens purchase is so much greater than spending $500 on a camera body.
Now if you would have asked me 'If you could only take one lens on a trip with you, what would it be?'... now that would be more fun. And after a bit of thought I'd tell you that I'd bring my 24mm F1.4. It's sharp, is great for low light (fast aperture), I can create images with a narrow depth of field, it's a prime so I can shoot it into the sun... Yeah 24mm F1.4 for me. How about you?
