Photo @クリス・バーカード // In the mid 20th century these purple flowers, known as Alaskan Lupine, were introduced to Iceland in order to help prevent erosion and spur reforestation. The volcanic soil makes it difficult for other forms of plants to grow, but this particular flower thrives in it. In some ways it has taken over the landscapes When it’s not blanketed in snow, the flowers accent the epic sunsets perfectly. It's a good reason to always have your camera close by while driving.
