Photo by @kristarossow. // While in Inle Lake, Myanmar, I went out before sunrise to photograph the fishermen. If you’ve ever seen photos of silhouetted men holding conical nets, you can easily get this shot by paying the men a few kyat to pose for you (they aren’t fishing at all), but I wanted to see the real thing.
The fishermen no longer use conical nets, opting instead for small round cages or long nets that they spread along the lake surface and mark with thin bamboo sticks. I loved watching these men at work, gathering nets in one arm and bamboo sticks in another while rowing their canoes with one leg.
