The town is known as "Little Jerusalem" as it was home to a flourishing and long-lived Jewish community, mostly made up by people fleeing from Rome during the persecutions in the middle 1500s. Curiously, Jews of the town used one of the caves for their ritual Passover matzoh bakery. Taken on my Italy Photo Workshop, held each May.
