Frank Lloyd Wright created over 700 sketches of possible designs for the Guggenheim Museum. Early sketches depicted a spiral building with a wide base. However, Wright decided to flip the structure so it grows progressively wider as it travels upward. "I find that the antique Ziggurat has great possibilities for our building.
