Emmanuel Adam, an Inuvialuit pastor and an accomplished hunter, has spent all his life in Tuktoyaktuk, a remote town on the Arctic Ocean in Canada. When @peterkujawinski visited the town, known as Tuk, for @nytimestravel, he stayed with Emmanuel. There were no other options: Tuk has no hotel or restaurant. Amenities are limited to a gas station and 2 grocery stores. That’s probably because Tuk is currently accessible only by an ice road, which is open for just 4 months of the year. The rest of the time, residents depend on expensive air connections to leave. When a new road opens later next year, though, Tuk will gain year-round access to the outside world — and perhaps a few more tourists. This #nytweekender, we’re sharing photos by @csmphotos from a #roadtrip to the end of the world.
