Our top ramp features #FischliWeiss’s Polyurethane Installations (1991– ), made out of polyurethane foam. The series began in the 1990s when the artists returned to their studio after focusing on their globe‐trotting projects. Considering their studio site with fresh eyes, they decided to meticulously replicate the conditions of their labor, copying the items in their studio as well as those typically found in the back rooms of galleries and museums: cleaning supplies, rolls of tape, tools, paint cans and mixing buckets, shipping pallets, sheets of plywood, pieces of furniture, videotapes, six‐packs of beer, towels, toothbrushes, and more. These counterfeits poke fun at the concept of the "readymade," a found object displayed unaltered as art. Though they seem to have been plucked from the studio, these hand‐carved and painted items required great skill to create. Photo: @dmheald
