In “Suddenly This Overview” (on view on ramp 3), #FischliWeiss attempted to gather all the world’s knowledge in one place through narrative vignettes. Comprising hundreds of small sculptures made of unfired clay, this “subjective encyclopedia” covers everything from the ordinary to the monumental. One large group of objects deals with the artists’ notion of “popular opposites”—labor vs. leisure, fiction vs. reality, kitsch vs. beauty, banality vs. the sublime. Photo: @dmheald.
