On Friday January 15, 2016, Brent Stirton won the annual National Geographic Photographer’s Photographer Award. The winner is selected by all of the @ナショナルジオグラフィック photographers who are actively contributing to the magazine, and recognize the work of one of their own who’s photography has most impressed them in the past year.


In this photo: Michael Oryem, 29, is a recently defected Lord’s Resistance Army fighter whose LRA group was involved in the poaching of Ivory in Garamba National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This image is part of Brent's series titled "A Violation of Eden."
