Two "Diablos" (Devil) from Argentina's Andean Altiplano stand in front of the Hornocal Mountains, not far from Humahuaca, in the Province of Jujuy. El Diablo is among the most vibrant and colorful characters of the Andean traditional culture and became a significant ambassador of the Quechua culture within the Quebrada of Humahuaca, a valley that was enlisted by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site (2003) and that belongs to #ElCaminoInca — a major cultural route that extends from Quito, Ecuador, to Mendoza, Argentina, through Perú and Bolivia.
This portrait is part of a larger body of work developed by the #Biophiliafoundation created by @marcovernaschi to develop the first fair-trade platform representing South American rural farmers. The portrait was published by @ナショナルジオグラフィック magazine in April 2015, in the story #ArgentineIdentities.
