This month, I treasure.
In January of 2014, I began to thaw.

I began to realize depths I once feared, stories I once concealed. In these moments, I was stunned. I swallowed oaths out of fear. I surrendered freedom through deceit. There was once a calm in chaos, but this peace was never truly mine. It was merely a hindrance that diluted in all the bites I never took.
The only control I ever had was behind caged walls. And in years of battle, the pain always grew, but I never did.
In January of 2014, I began to thaw.
Bare in all its brutality, I saw anorexia in the colors that stained my life for 5 years too many. Despite the fear of letting go, I accepted change, for the pain of change could never be worse than the pain I endured as I starved for senseless sins. And as I grew past the rigidity and the reassurance of empty dinner plates, I discovered substance that could never be scaled.
There is no middle ground between life and death, no mediocre attempts or staggered ambivalence. There is choice that impels change, and change that impels growth.
