Hot winds blow through the deserted streets of Salton City and the Sundowner Motel, once the in spot for tourists and gamblers, is reduced to rubble. Formerly a lure for movie stars in the 1950's and 60’s, Salton City was expected to become the next Las Vegas, with fancy hotels, Yacht Club marina, and golf courses. It hosted more than a half a million visitors in its heyday, but today it has fewer than 2,000 inhabitants.
