Joseph Beuys walks down an alley of poplar trees. In January 1978 I went on a journey to the Lower Rhine with Joseph Beuys, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. It led us back to Beuys’ origins, to his roots near the city of Kleve and its surroundings, to many places of his childhood and youth. January 2016 will mark the 30th anniversary of his passing.
