..... I don't know what exactly sparked me to start going to the gym. I guess it was a combination of a few things. I was very underweight (didn't have an eating disorder, just very skinny) , I felt tired all the time, I was feeling horrible and I had no confidence. I had just gotten out of a bad relationship (if you could even call it that, it was highschool), and I guess I was just in a bad mind set. The first day I stepped into the gym I was totally overwhelmed. I walked to every machine and looked at the photos of "how to" use them. I started doing sit ups on the floor so I could watch people use them so I could learn. I went over to one of them, it was a shoulder press machine, and I did 15 reps. I moved onto the leg press machine and did as many reps as I could, I was getting excited. I moved onto more machines and just did as much as I could on each machine. I left the gym feeling abit stiff, didn't stretch, but I was happy. The next day, well actually, it was about 3am I woke up and my legs were cramping. I tried to sit up and it felt like my abs were broken. I rolled to the side and I could feel ONE shoulder throbbing. I didn't understand WHY I was in so much pain ... and it only got WORSE!! For the next 72 hours my whole body felt broken. For the next WEEK, I could still feel it. I kept laughing as I dragged one foot in front of the other but it wasn't funny. The NEXT time I went to the gym I learnt my lesson and started doing 30 minute sessions. I was never scared of the weights because no one ever told me "you are going to bulk up if you use those" (you don't). I've always loved weights. I did a combination of resistance, cardio and jump training. It worked. I was happy! I've trained like this since I was 17 years old. I don't have a sad story as to why I started at the gym, I just started because I was sick of feeling tired and sick of having no confidence. Yes, I learnt the hard way, but I learnt regardless. I'm proud of making the first step and I'm proud of where I am today. www.kaylaitsines.com/app
