I have six sisters and brothers, all younger than me. Even though our childhood wasn't perfect, we were all lucky to be born into circumstances that have allowed us to plan for the limitless possibilities that are ahead. As my sisters and brothers grow older, they will be able to choose their education, pursue their passions and travel the vast corners of the world - much like I did. Growing up we never worried about having enough food to eat or a roof over our heads - we were afforded the luxury to be creative, to manifest, to dream. We were, and still are, very lucky. For many children around the world... This is not the case.
One in every three children live without adequate shelter. 400 million live with no access to safe water. 270 million do not have access to any sort of health care and 2 million children’s lives are lost every year to preventable illnesses like pneumonia and diarrhea. And this is without talking about the abuse that too often occurs behind closed doors.
