Pleased to announce the next Stanmeyer Visual Storytelling Workshop will take place in one of the most fascinating, poetically beautiful, story filled countries I’ve been — Armenia.
Join me for a 9-day deep immersion into the art, craft and passion of deeply layered, photographic storytelling, March 4-12, 2016, in the historic city of Gyumri.
Available to only an intimate group of 12 photographers, I will be teaching how to prepare, research, photograph and edit a passionate visual essay, no different than I do for magazines like National Geographic. You will delve deep into the art of photography and seeing — into yourself — producing a photo essay that is ready for publication, in magazine or online. Additionally, I will share insight on how to truly leverage the most important form of communication and publishing today; Social Media — Do not underestimate this power and potential.
Throughout the event, I will present stories from over twenty years of photographing for the world’s leading publications, including deep insight into more than 14 stories I have produced for @ナショナルジオグラフィック, including a peak into my next story to be published in the magazine in April, 2016.
This workshop is open to any anyone who is truly interested in expanding their visual horizons, be it while using an iPhone or a DSLR.
Joining me for this special gathering will be @NazikArmenakyan and @AnushBabajanyan, co-founding members of @4.Plus, an NGO photo cooperative that works to empower female photographers in Armenia and throughout the Caucasus, helping me to expand both your photography and cultural understanding in the truly rich, subtle nuances of Armenian culture and traditions.
