I love having ornaments on our tree that have existed as long as I have. Their textures... Their colours... They practically vibrate with the memories of lying under the tree in the evenings in the '80s, looking up through the lights and counting down the nights to Santa. Hurry, I thought. But also: slow down. I was stirred even then by a collective nostalgia. That quiet, Christmas-coloured ache... This ornament was handmade by my mom.
