My soul revels in the off-season. Bitter wind whistling on a barren beach? Mittened hands curled around a hot drink as the sun peeks sleepily over the horizon? Shuttered windows... Shortened hours... That's my time. And I'm used to having it all to myself. So imagine my surprise when I discovered that our new home is positively BRIMMING with kindred explorers. And not just quirky solo wanderers. Oh no. I see whole families of off-season-superheroes, traipsing through the drizzle, loving it all. And while I love them for it--these are, after all, quite clearly my people--I still need that precious solitude. So I hang back after they've packed up for home. I wait them out as they pile into their cars. And finally I'm rewarded with silence.
