For the past two weeks, we've been hopping around from hotel to @airbnb to relatives' homes as we sort through the many variables that led us to a decision to settle down again. One was a realization that we had gleaned everything we needed from our six months on the road - it was the stepping stone we needed to get going on the rest of our lives - we have so many exciting plans! And second, most importantly, something I've never talked about here...is our daughter's relationship with her father. I was married before, and Adelaide is from that marriage. Many of you don't know this, and it's been a strange and personal thing to share here, so I've refrained. It's not just me involved, so speaking about it publicly needs to be done with great care. I never had the right words. My previous marriage was a tumultuous one, and the years that followed even more so, in many ways. Now, however, we are establishing a renewed relationship with Adelaide's dad, and are moving to his city (my old city from years ago), where we have found a lovely house. I recognize that in posting that we are done traveling for now will likely cause a sharp drop off in following - which is fine - but I want to always be forthright in this space about the reality of our lives and our paths. I could very easily lie and post images that would lead you to believe we are still on the road, but instead...this is an online visual journal of our lives, as they naturally and honestly unfold. Life isn't always romantic or easy - in fact, it rarely is. I may be a bit more sporadic here in the coming weeks as we transition to life in my old city (new to Ellen and not remembered by Adelaide), but as we settle, please stay tuned to see how we decorate our new home while holding to the same principles we set about seeking for travel - clean, simplified, and less is more, along with a revamped blog devoted to the transition, life in the city, and the same old musings on life. Thanks for reading this long note, and thank you all for being such a wonderful community. The daily encouragement and the true and dear friendships that have come from this little social media app mean so much.
