An abandoned car at Mile 67 of the James W. Dalton Highway. Made mostly of loose-packed dirt and gravel, the #DaltonHighway slices through the wildest and northernmost portions of Alaska. It shudders over 414 miles from the flyspeck town of Livengood (population 13) to the grim industrial oil fields that mar the frigid shores of Prudhoe Bay. The photographer @huffphoto spent five years, on and off, documenting the Dalton for his book, “The Last Road North.” Visit the link in our profile to see more photographs by @huffphoto, whose work was featured in a @nytimestravel story about one of America’s loneliest roads.
