Blower Truck under raging clouds. In Coober Pedy, South Australia, these blower trucks are one of the dominant visual icons. Essentially, huge vacuum cleaners, they are used to suck rocks and dirt from underground mines where tunnelers are searching for Opals. The abandoned mines are used as homes, churches, hotels, garages, you name it. Coober Pedy is the opal capitol of the world. Very loosely translated Coober Pedy means White man in a Hole.
