In Thailand, the locals don’t call their capital city “Bangkok.” They call it “Krung Thep,” which translates to “City of angels, great city of immortals, magnificent city of the nine gems, seat of the king, city of royal palaces, home of gods incarnate, erected by Vishvakarman at Indra's behest.” That mouthful deservingly holds the Guinness World Record for longest place name. Turns out Los Angeles doesn’t have the monopoly on angelic names. And with views like this, who’s gonna argue that Bangkok isn’t the true City of Angels?
