When a photographer and travel writer get married, it’s only natural that the diary of their overseas adventure would end with: “You can see why Scotland produced so many poets.” Dominic and Meghan, co-creators of the Webby Award-winning blog Citizens of the World, spent twenty days road tripping, hiking, and pub-crawling through Scotland’s cities and moorland. Cameras in hand, they stopped every few minutes to capture storybook glens, ancient castles covered in ferns, and cliff views of the Hebridean islands being engulfed by dense, supernatural fogs. In what felt to Meghan like the picturesque country was “just showing off,” they even stumbled upon two peacocks having a fight in the middle of the road while a deer looked on. Tired and happy, they wrapped up their trip with a night of glamping at Skye Eco Bells tents, where, in line with their almost poetic vacation, they read by candlelight and woke to birdsong.
