This weekend, some 2,000 visitors will tour @flowerhousedetroit, an art installation just outside of the city. To help cast a new light on the #Detroit metropolitan area’s blight, as well as on the floral industry, a group of florists filled the #derelict house with 36,000 #flowers. “I’m trying to rebrand abandoned houses as a resource,” said Lisa Waud, a florist who bought the duplex at auction for $250. Months ago, it contained far grimmer things: A dead dog, jammed toilets, broken glass. The house is still a structural wreck, but its atmosphere has been transformed.
