Bothrops alternatus is originally from #Central and #SouthAmerica. #Bothrops are responsible for more human deaths in #America than any other group of #venomoussnakes. These snakes are small; no more than 20–28 in to large at over 6.6 ft in total length. Most of these #snakes are identified by having a sharp canthus rostralis and an unelevated snout. At present, 32 species are recognized.
Most of these species are #nocturnal, but a few found at higher altitudes are also active during the day. They can also be seen on rainy and cloudy days. All of these snakes are capable of climbing and most of them are terrestrial. @thephotosociety @Robert Clark @ナショナルジオグラフィック
