Service days can be multi-generational family affairs! Yesterday, a big Colorado crew went out to scrub a few decades worth of chalk and shoe rubber off the local boulders. For this soft sandstone rock, we used spray bottles of vinegar to help break down the muck before gently scrubbing with normal climbing brushes (never wire!). Then folks with manual pump pressurized hoses came through and gave the rock a good rinse. This process makes the rock more aesthetically pleasing to non climber user groups, and adds years worth of friction for climbers! Consider organizing a service project with a climbing coalition in your area to get rid of all the caked chalk. You might just find your project is a little bit easier with that extra friction!
Reminder: Never climb on wet sandstone! You'll risk loosing your project to broken holds. It's worth a day or two wait to let the rock dry!

Wrapping up an awesome #ROCKproject event with the @accessfund, @earthtreks, a solid crew of guides and athletes, and a whole lot of enthusiasm from the local climbing community. Thanks for coming out everyone!
