2 October 2015 :: Today is the International Day of Non-Violence. It also happens to be the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and is celebrated in India as Gandhi Jayanti, one of three national holidays for Republic of India. ?????? It also happens to be the day that @jimmy_chin, @renan_ozturk and I made it to the summit of Meru, a peak in India. When we returned to base camp we didn’t understand the significance till the Saddhus (holy folk) in the Tapovan Meadow made the connection. It was a fitting day, a day that I will always remember. A day that marked 25 years of obsession, 8 years of trying and 3 expeditions. A day that three friends shared a journey of self-discovery.

May we all reflect upon the wisdom and compassion of Mr. Gandhi. “In a gentle way, you can shake the world.” Violence is never the answer.
