#tbt Four years ago @renan_ozturk, @jimmy_chin and myself were en route to Meru, a granite mountain in the Garwhal Himal of India. Delhi was hammering rain as we went about the civilities of securing our climbing permit and purchasing lentils. When we inquired about the severity of the monsoon our friends would try to gauge if we wanted a big, dry, early, late or normal monsoon and answer appropriately. The average answer was "some times big, some times small". Which didn't help us one way or another.
The bus ride was bumpy. When we encountered a road slip our journey was delayed for two days. It seemed like the actual weather was going to forecast the weather. Was it going to be another 5 week journey in a rainy meadow reading books and counting the rip stop grid of our tents or would we get lucky? We holed up in a lory driver's hotel with Bollywood videos. And waited. We eventually made it to Gangotri.
Thankful to my climbing partners "Nanji and Jackie" for being part of this dream. With the release of @merufilm four years later we are humbled by the positive feedback from friends and relatives. The film is still opening in new theaters. ?
