“I always want to be a music photographer, that’s never going to change,” says Mel. D Cole (@meldcole), who got his start taking pictures of the Roots. “But I want to do different things with the camera. I want to do more photojournalism. I want to travel the world. I want to go to places where I am not normally accepted.”
One way Mel is pushing himself is through @homelessworld, where he documents and tells stories about the less fortunate.
“There are millions of people in New York, and there is no better way to get out there and talk to people in need,” he says. “That’s the challenge for me, just to do more. And maybe I can do that through my love of music. Music is the universal language – everybody loves some form of it.”
