An example of the power of photography! I photographed cougar P-22, seen here, for a @ナショナルジオグラフィック story on Cougars that ran in the Dec 2013 issue. P-22 has been in the news a few times due to his proximity to LA ( he lives in Griffith Park) and now he's the Poster Boy for the recently launched ‪#‎SaveLACougars campaign. This image ran on the front page of the LA Times 2 years ago and seemed to start the conversation about the overpass!
Today plans were announced - #California plans to build a wildlife overpass to link wildlife habitat segmented by the 101 Freeway. The overpass will give local wildlife, like cougars, coyotes and bobcats, a better chance of survival by giving them the space they need to hunt and breed. The National Wildlife Federation and its partner, the Santa Monica Mountains Fund, have launched the #SaveLACougars campaign to help make this crossing a reality.
