--------------------------------------------------------After trimming our gear to the absolute essentials, we embarked on our ascent of the Shark’s Fin. The terrain right off the deck was steep snow and ice. We planned to climb in a ground up style which meant once we left the ground we would continue upward, never returning to the base until we either made it to the top or failed. @コンラッド・アンカー had already made an attempt on the Fin in 2003 and failed. He knew the challenges of the climb well. Before we left for the trip, I remember Conrad casually mentioning if we wanted a chance of climbing the mountain, we would likely need to hold fast during the storms we encountered or push through them. Late in our second day of climbing, the temperatures dropped, and it began snowing lightly. The biting winds coming off the Tibetan Plateau began to stir and soon we were fighting through heavy snowfall to find a safe place to put up the portaledge in the storm.
