This week's #PurpleBlobOfTheWeek comes courtesy the active-of-late Southeast Pacific. Strong storm activity is underway in the area now, with further strengthening due heading into the weekend as a 972mb low sets up just off the coast of South America, backed by an adjacent area of moderately strong high pressure over the Central Pacific. This sets up seas in excess of 30’ and produces XXL surf for Chile, while Peru goes XL. Other southerly facing extremities of the Americas join in on the action through the first week in August.
