In the rural district of Anupshahar, India, @pardadapardadi offers schooling for girls who otherwise wouldn't have a shot at education. So many girls here still haven't had the opportunity to enter the Padada Pardadi system, however. It's a big risk for families to send girls to school at the loss of a labor hand at home.

Kavita and Geeta, two sisters pictured above, exemplify this disparity. Kavita, 17, never had the chance to attend school, while her two younger sisters are enrolled at Pardada Pardadi. Kavita spends the mornings making tea and dung patties for fuel, along with other domestic duties. While the younger sisters are able to help Kavita after school, she expressed a sadness at not having the opportunity to get an education herself. In this district, education is a privilege, not a right.
