We landed in the clearing to check on the legality of their logging permit, which they didn't have in hand. I was told by two sources that all logging at this time of year (the wet season) is illegal, and farm owners are allowed to clear only 20% of the Amazon forest tropical biome that is on their property, but there is no clear way to enforce it, and property titles here are quite murky.
