#transformationtuesday “Recovery is for you and it starts with you. Now don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t mean you don’t need support. Doctors, family, and friend should be a part of this journey, for they initiate value in the steps that you strive for. They provide you with reassurance, sheltering you from the sharpness of the knife and the scowling of the scale. However, help won’t drive you into wanting anything unless you want it for yourself. The decision to discover is an internal process that starts and ends with you.” This passage was from a journal I had in January of last year.
At that time, I understood that I couldn’t be forced to recover. No matter the time I spent in treatment, or the meals I was forced to eat, there was only one sole way I’d recover.
I had to want recovery for myself.
No one could initiate that journey for me; I had to take charge of my own healing. This prompted accountability and diligence. While I strived for healing intentions, the choice to recover has given me true control over my life, control anorexia deceitfully promised, and never truly granted.
In deciding I was worth recovery, I decided I was worth fighting for.

And if you can take away one message from all of this, remember this one: If I recovered, you can too. ? #fightforgrowth #strongnotsick
