Darlene Arviso drove along the eastern edge of the Navajo Nation in #NewMexico. Darlene’s job is simple: She brings clean water to people who have none of it at home. Of the roughly 50,000 households on the #Navajo reservation, about one in every three are lacking clean water — a problem only made worse by a multiyear drought. For the Navajo, whose land straddles the high desert across New Mexico, Arizona and Utah, conserving water is not a choice or a mandate, it’s a way of life. Darlene, 51, who is known as “the water lady,” has been delivering water and befriending the community for six years. “If I’m not here,” she said, “who’s going to bring these people their water?
