She traveled to America by sea from Kenya in July 1957 — alongside a second baby baboon, named Joseph. “They won the affection of the seamen by panhandling chewing gum, candy drops and especially beer,” @ニューヨーク・タイムズ reported. Here, it appears that Josephine tried to give @ニューヨーク・タイムズ staff photographer John Orris a run for his money. No record was made of what Josephine photographed that day — if anything — or whether she returned the camera before heading off to the @stlzoo.
