Yesterday I received a very special letter from a 13 yr old girl asking me for help since her parents wanted to declaw her cat Luna because she was climbing on the new curtains in her home. I’m happy to say that after receiving hundreds of amazing suggestions and comments on the post, the parents thankfully had a change of heart. Here is their letter… “We wanted to thank you for taking the time today to get back with my daughter about Luna. We are so proud of her for standing up for something she believes in! Both my husband and I had NO IDEA the details involved with laser declawing! I always thought declawing was cruel but for some reason (can’t remember why), I thought using the laser made it a simple, pain-free procedure. We definitely think differently now and can thank you and my daughter for educating us. We also appreciate all the wonderful ideas from everyone with their posts and comments. We are going to buy more cat trees, toys, etc. immediately! This day ended up being amazing for everyone involved (including Luna.) It made us realize our daughter is set out to do good in this world and we could not be more proud! Thanks again, Luna’s owner & mother.” Thankfully this young lady had the courage to speak out against what she knew was wrong even if it went against what her parents wanted. Little Luna will now be able to live a life as she was destined to. With claws and toe bones, which means she will have her health and well-being the way that it was meant to be. She and every single kitty in this world deserve to be able to live a life that is pain-free and with parts of their body that are so important to them being a cat. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support and concern for this special young lady. Thank you to the parents for opening up their hearts and minds and learning a very important lesson from their daughter. And mostly, thank you to this young lady, for reaching out to me for help.
