Taisha Allen recorded an eight-minute video showing the medical response after Eric Garner's confrontation with the police on Staten Island last July. His final words — “I can’t breathe” — became a rallying cry for a protest movement. On screens large and small, his last struggle replayed on a loop. Taisha, who lives in the area, had been on the block shopping for sandals at the time. When @andyspear photographed her earlier in June, they went for a walk and he noticed this spot. “I stopped and looked at it for a moment and saw this kind of new growth and splash of light coming out of this dark utilitarian scene,” @andyspear said, “really simple.” Over the weekend, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ published a story about revelations that provide a fresh understanding of how a seemingly routine police encounter hurtled toward its deadly conclusion. #ericgarner
