In just a few days, more than 1,200 migrants have arrived on the Greek island of Kos after crossing the few miles of the Aegean Sea that separate Turkey from Greece. The short distance, which makes for a relative safe crossing, has transformed Greece into one of the main gateways for migrants from North Africa, the Middle East and parts of Asia looking for better lives in Europe. The Greek authorities have been struggling with the influx, and the local tourism industry is worried that the new arrivals will deter tourists from visiting the island. In this photograph by Angelos Tzortzinis of @AFP通信, a dinghy overcrowded with Afghan immigrants arrives on one of Kos' beaches on May 27, 2015. For more, visit time.com.
