"'They're cheap,' says the maven of the city's rock & roll culturati. "When I saw them at the Fillmore, I thought they were awful. They'll never make it, I thought. The lead singer's got fat hips, for god's sake. Well, I was wrong. The kids gave them a standing ovation.' The object of the ovation being #BlackSabbath.... The sound of Black Sabbath, as those around them fondly point out, is almost physically threatening. The group's audience, according to the maven, is 'the kids who are growing their hair long this year.' Black Sabbath is making it big this year and no one knows why... There are four of them and they started out under the name Earth two and a half years ago, the sons of a dustman, a factory worker, a packer and a toolmaker. 'We were down and outs,' says lead singer John 'Ozzy' Osbourne, the Ozzy tattoed across the fingers of one hand. 'If I hadn't gotten into this, I probably would have gone to prison.'"
