Photograph @massimobassanoBack to Lisbon on my way back from Azores. The capital of Portugal is incredibly fascinating. Almost destroyed by an earthquake in the 1755, it was rebuilt even more beautiful. Downtown is divided in small quarters as Bairro Alto, Alfama, Baixa, Chiado, Belem. Each one with different soul. Bairro Alto is the most popular for the "movida" (nightlife), with lots of restaurants, bar, etc. Always full of youngs. Alfama, which the name comes from two similar Arabic words that mean "hot fountains" and "mouth", is the Capital of Fado music. The melancholy sound, worldwide famous, is just everywhere in the quarter. Walking at night in Alfama is an incredible experience. The low light narrow street are invaded in each corner by the melodies of the fado singers. Few steps forward and you can get a different concert in each restaurant. Because Fado is always "served" with food and wine. Locals use to go out for dinner for listening Fado late at night. In this view at early sunset, the big church of Saint Vincent on the left and the small dome of the National Pantheon on the right. At the Pantheon are buried mostly of the Portuguese personality, includes the Queen of Fado, Amalia Rodrigues. The most important interpreter of Fado of all time.#Lisbon #Portugal #Fado #visitportugal #Alfama #Pantheon #Amaliarodrigues
